Counselor

Seeks a full-time Counselor to provide mental health counseling for a housing program for homeless, mentally ill adults. The overall job summary requires assessing resident’s needs and developing a plan to ensure that resident is linked to needed services both inside the residence and in the community.

Assist resident in acquiring necessary skills to live independently in permanent housing. The Counselor will observe and interact with the clients in public areas of Safe Haven.

Required to cover nights and weekends, as needed. Ideal for students interested in mental health. Reports to an Assistant Program Director. Jobsite location is at 2524 Creston Avenue, Bronx, NY 10468.

Qualifications: Prefer Bachelors Degree with 1 year of mental heallth experience preferably with MI, MICA, SPMI adult population. Excellent communication skills. Bilingual (Spanish) preferable.

Salary: Competitive non-profit salary based on experience.
