Job Title: Team Leader, Brooklyn Justice Corps

Reports to: Director of Justice Corps Programs

Overview: New York City Justice Corps is a project to reconnect previously court-involved young people, 18-24, with their community through case management, education, community benefit projects, internships, and other activities during a six-month intensive services period, followed by six months of aftercare. The goal of the program is to provide participants in Jamaica’s community district 12 with the skills, motivation, and connections they need to meet their long-term education and career goals and avoid future justice system involvement. The Team Leader supports this goal by assisting in the supervision of case management services.

This position is located in Brooklyn.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for supervising a staff of case managers and a part time Social Worker and ensuring that program clients receive appropriate counseling and support services.
• Providing initial orientation and initial assessments of program clients;
• Assigning cases to Case Management staff;
• Reviewing program plans, conducting case conferences and folder reviews;
• Achieving contract goals and meeting budget requirements;
• Maintaining effective working relationships with other units;
• Providing initial orientation and on-going training for case managers;
• Conducting weekly individual supervision;
• Monitoring and evaluating the quantity and quality of the services and activities of assigned case managers; and
• All other duties as assigned by the Director of Justice Corps Programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related discipline required, LMSW preferred;
• Two or more years of counseling experience with one year in human services or criminal justice field;
• At least 2 years supervisory experience preferred;
• Good working knowledge of word processing;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
• Residence in and/or knowledge of the local community preferred.
• Bilingual preferred.

Salary

$45,000
