Substance Abuse Counselor - HRA BX SS

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Substance Abuse Counselor determines the client’s needs for counseling and/or rehabilitation. Responsibilities include assessments, provision of services – individual and group – coordination of services with providers within and outside Comunilife. Monitoring and re-assessing client’s needs for treatment and community education on chemical dependency related issues. Conduct initial substance abuse assessments with case manager to assist in the development of the comprehensive service plans and establish long and short-term substance abuse related goals. Home visits and field work required.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required with 2-3 consecutive years of work experience in substance abuse and HIV/AIDS issues. Valid New York State CASAC or CASAC-T Certificate preferred. Experience with HIV/AIDS afflicted individuals, chronic mental illness, substance abuse individuals a plus. Bilingual, English and Spanish preferred.
