Activity Assistant/Computer Lab Monitor (The Christopher)

Description

The Center for Urban Community Services, a national leader in the development of effective housing and service initiatives for homeless people, invites applications for an Activity Support Assistant/Computer Lab Monitor position at the Christopher, located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. The Christopher is a 167 unit supportive housing residence for low income tenants, many of whom have histories of mental illness, homelessness, substance abuse, and /or HIV/AIDS.

RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for supervising the computer lab usage, providing basic technical assistant, monitoring activity spaces during designated program hours, documenting computer room utilization, and ensuring that computer lab policies and procedures are followed. This individual is also responsible for reporting any problems to supervisory staff and cleaning and maintaining computer equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware parts and software programs including Microsoft Office
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Previous experience working with special needs population preferred
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
