Description
The Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS), a national leader in the development of effective housing and service initiatives for homeless people, invites applications for an Assistant Director of Human Resources position at the main office in East Harlem. CUCS is an acclaimed human services organization and one of the nation’s largest providers of supportive housing social services. CUCS is a leader in implementing new practices, sharing knowledge and assisting in shaping local, state and national strategies, so that persons who are homeless, low-income, living with mental illness, or have other special needs can live successfully in the community. The Assistant Director of Human Resources is responsible for supporting the Director of Human Resources in the overall management of the HR department, which will consist of overseeing all areas of core HR functions. The Assistant Director plays a major role in the organization of the day to day operations of the HR department and in ensuring that the organization’s practices meet regulatory standards and align with the organization’s mission. • Serve as an additional point of contact in providing comprehensive HR support for the entire organization • Identify, recommend and implement operational improvements to streamline HR processes and procedures • Work collaboratively with the Director of Human Resources in managing relationships with various benefit providers • Produce accurate and detailed HR metrics reports, analyze the data, recognize trends and propose solutions for problems • Conduct highest level of analysis and reporting on regulations regarding compliance issues and assists the Director of Human Resources in formulating responses or internal processes to administer changes • Ensure compliance with federal, state and city regulatory laws, guidelines and standards • Prepare materials for agency audits, benefits renewals, and annual government reports • Oversee the new hire orientation, onboarding and off boarding processes and manage the internal redesign of these areas to maximize efficiency • Ensure accuracy of data stored in employees files; both in electronic form and hard copy
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree preferred • Minimum 4 years of experience working in Human Resources • Supervisory and management experience • PHR certification, SPHR preferred • Demonstrated analytic and problem solving skills • High level of attention to detail and excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills • Ability to succeed in a fast paced deadline driven environment • Excellent computer skills, experience working with database systems • Strong interpersonal skills, as well as sensitivity to confidential matters
