Recovery Support Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a member of our new New York State multi-year STEHP grant-funded Housing Crisis Response Team, the Recovery Support Specialist will work in conjunction with our Outreach Team in Westchester County to encourage recovery from addiction among homeless individuals and those at risk of homelessness due to addiction or mental illness-related behaviors. Responsibilities will include providing relapse prevention services, linking individuals to self-help groups, formal psychiatric and addiction treatment, informal support networks, employment services, and other recovery supports. The Critical Time Intervention model, motivational interviewing, wellness self-management, and other evidence-based practices will be used. The Recovery Support Specialist will collaborate and coordinate planning and ongoing services with formal treatment providers, and when appropriate, with Westchester County DSS and DCMH, and will participate in Continuum of Care networks.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
LMSW/LMHC and CASAC; 5 years of experience in treatment and/or recovery support services for individuals dually diagnosed with mental illness and chemical dependency, reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license; excellent computer, writing and oral communication skills essential, bilingual English-Spanish and familiarity with Westchester County preferred.
