The Bridge

Description

The Bridge, an innovative and well respected behavioral health agency serving adults with serious mental illness, substance abuse, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and co-morbid medical conditions, is seeking a Veterans’ Coordinator to provide targeted services to individuals who have served in the United States armed forces and be a liaison to outside Veterans organizations. The Bridge is an AA/EOE.

Scope of Position:

Under the direct supervision of the Senior V.P. for Residential Programs, The Veterans’ Coordinator will establish a Community Integration Program, focused on developing high quality support to Bridge clients who are Veterans, linking current Bridge programs to other Veterans not currently connected to The Bridge, and serving as a liaison to the NYC Veterans’ community.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Developing expertise about the unmet needs Veterans currently face
and the specific resources available to meet these needs.
• Developing strong links with Veterans’ organizations, shelters,
criminal justice service providers, homeless outreach teams, VA
hospitals and other Veterans’ organizations.
• Assisting in the intake process for Veterans applying to The Bridge’s
residential and other services.
• Working with The Bridge’s vocational program to formulate
employment goals for Veterans.
• Increasing the number of Veterans served each year by The Bridge.
• Delivering comprehensive staff training on Veterans’ clinical issues,
the service system available outside of The Bridge for Veterans and
how to access it.
• Collecting project data on the progress of the program to report to
funder monthly.
• Supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Human Services required. Minimum 4 years' experience working with seriously mentally ill adults/substance abusers in clinical/housing setting or case management. Previous experience working with veterans required. Veteran Preferred. Bilingual Spanish desirable.
