Description
Job Title: Director of Justice Corps
Reports to: Associate Director of Youth Programs
Overview: The NYC borough-based Justice Corps programs bring together model practices from workforce development, reentry and service learning programs. These programs partner community groups, justice agencies and employers to invest in the development and self-sufficiency of court-involved young adults. Justice Corps empowers young adults to be change agents in their personal lives and throughout the broader community. CASES has been the community provider of Queens Justice Corps since 2012 and recently became the Brooklyn Justice Corps provider as well. The Director of Justice Corps will oversee both programs, sharing their time across two locations – Jamaica Queens and downtown Brooklyn. Both programs are part of the broader NYC Justice Corps network overseen by the Prisoner Reentry Institute of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY.
Responsibilities: • Hire, train and supervise staff – including case managers and worksite supervisors; • Recruit and enroll eligible young people; • Work closely with community partners in each location to implement community benefit projects and to ensure that Justice Corps is integrated into and visible within the designated Queens and Brooklyn communities; • Coordinate with CASES’ youth programs staff who provide education and career development classes to participants; • Collaborate with other Justice Corps providers and the Prisoner Reentry Institute to share and adopt best practices; • Manage the program budgets; • Ensure the collection of accurate and timely data on program performance; and • Ensure the programs meet performance goals and outcomes and implement program improvements.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; • Minimum of 5 years experience working with at-risk or justice-involved youth and a demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate youth as well as staff; • Experience connecting youth with service learning and/or community service opportunities; • Ability to apply youth development principles and commitment to work from a strengths-based perspective; • Strong organizational and supervisory skills; and • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Salary
$70K annually, commensurate with experience with excellent benefits package.
