EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST/JOB DEVELOPER

POSITION SUMMARY:
ICD's Employment Specialists are called upon at the final stage of the vocational rehabilitation process to serve clients who have received job coaching, career or work readiness training. Our staff have specialized skills which allow them to translate labor market research and community networking into meaningful outcomes that lead to competitive, long-term employment for our clients.

DAYS & HOURS: Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm or 9am to 5pm

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
• Assist clients with effective resume development and cover letters
• Develop solid leads with employers who offer jobs in a variety of industries such as office technology, child care, human services, building/facility maintenance, retail sales, clerical work, custodial or porter services as well as restaurant work/food preparation.
• Effectively prepare clients for job interviews through role plays and coaching exercises
• Communicate relevant industry trends and employment needs to management
• Be responsible for initiating new job development plans related to a specific industry trends
• Keep well-organized database of employer records and individual client case notes
• Facilitate a Weekly Job Club directed at strategies for successful job search, interviewing, online applications and networking.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in a social services or a related field of study
• Three years of experience working with people who have barriers to employment.
• Excellent communication skills, preferably in both English & Spanish, with a high aptitude for teaching.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, resume writing, and using job search engines.
• Experience conducting group workshops or training for job readiness skills.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to use creativity and enthusiasm to motivate people and tailor learning activities to meet group and individual needs.
• Ability to establish partnerships with local businesses to hire our students.
• Good record-keeping skills to accurately track attendance and program participation.
