Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, utilizing the nursing process provide optimum, quality, cost effective care.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
•Promotes an atmosphere of professionalism, cooperation, respect, and dignity in all communication/interaction with clients, their families, and colleagues.
•Facilitates the orderly performance of the agency’s functions by observing policies and standards of conduct.
•Provides clinical assessment of client conditions in accordance with the prescribed treatment plan.
•Administers medication adhering to institutional policy and regulatory agency mandates.
•Able to assess clients for possible signs of intoxication prior to dispensing medications.
•Able to assess clients for possible medication side effects and refers for evaluation as indicated.
•Maintains accurate accounting of all medication received and dispensed.
•Documents and maintains client medical records adhering to institutional and governmental agency policy.
•Provides supervision to nursing staff when requested and/or in the absence of the Nurse Manager.
•Uses critical thinking to problem solve.
•Provides health teaching and counseling.
•Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings.
•Role model for staff and clients.
•Other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
•Maintains a good working relationship with all employees.
Participate in Job Training and Education Programs, Meetings and Committees.
•Attends mandatory in-service annually.
•Participates in various committees and meetings as requested.
•Attends seminars to further professional development.
Qualifications
JOB COMPETENCY:
-Current NYS RN License
-Current NYS Infection Control Certificate
-Minimum one year experience as an RN, preferably in a substance abuse treatment program -CPR/BLS/AED -Mandated Reporter
-Excellent written and oral communication skills. -Ability to interact effectively with all populations served. -Ability to speak read and write the English language. -Proficiency with computers.
