Designing & Implementing A Compliance Program That Works: Everything You Wanted to Know About Compliance and Were Afraid to Ask


Behavioral Health Agencies who serve Medicaid recipients are expected to have in place a robust compliance program. Designing and implementing such a program in an effective, efficient, resource sensitive manner is critical to each organization’s future.

This training will review the terms - Compliance, Program Integrity, Quality Management, Performance Improvement, Ethics, Code of Conduct, Risk Assessment & Risk Management, Audits & Review.
It will Identify drivers for developing and implementing compliance programs, discuss how ethics and sound clinical and business practices are the foundation of an effective compliance program and establish how ethics as the heart of everyone’s compliance program.

It will define acronyms CMS, OIG, FSCO, ACA, FCA, HIPAA, MFUCO, BBRA and impact on compliance, Identify the authorities and resources in developing a compliance program and describe current federal and state regulations governing/informing the provider’s compliance program and will identify the penalty for not having an effective compliance program. It will present and discuss the 8 elements of compliance program.

After completing this session, participants will be able to:

  • Participants will be able to identify the key drivers in developing and implementing program integrity structure and processes and to describe how federal and state regulations impact the provider’s compliance role and responsibilities

  • Participants will be able to list five critical areas to be addressed in an agency Code of Ethics (Conduct)

  • Participants will be able to name three major risk areas for most provider organizations; define components of a well- designed risk assessment tool; and discuss a suggested methodology for developing, conducting, analyzing and reporting risk assessment findings and recommendations. Participants will be able to design an effective risk assessment tool

  • Participants will be able to identify, define and provide viable examples of each of the eight components of an effective compliance program in a group presentation

    Information for Social Work Continuing Education:
    This course has been approved for 6 Social Work LMSW/LCSW CE hours, 6 LMHC CE hours and 6 CASAC/CPP/CPS CE hours. To receive the CE hours participants must: arrive on time; stay for the full session; submit a post-test; and document their attendance via the CE sign in and sign-out sheet. No credit will be provided for partial attendance, no exceptions please. Please have your Social Work License Number on hand.
