Overview of Motivational InterviewingSessionsOverview of Motivational Interviewing
Name and qualifications of facilitator Dr. Andrew Hamid holds an MSW (Toronto), M.Mus (Royal Conservatory) and PhD in Social Work & Psychology (Michigan). He has extensive clinical and supervisory experience in the field of substance abuse. He has been on the faculty of Columbia University’s School of Social Work for the past 20 years where he teaches primarily in the area of substance abuse, motivational interviewing (MI) and also in international health & social development. At Columbia’s Medical School, he teaches in the area of MI and health behavior change. Over the past 2 decades, Dr. Hamid has been actively involved in delivering professional development workshops to Human Service agencies across the US and Canada on the application of MI to a wide range of client populations. More recently, he has been engaged in facilitating workshops on the cultural adaptability of Motivational Interviewing in various parts of the developing world. Information for Continuing Education: This course has been approved for 6 Social Work LMSW/LCSW CE hours, 6 LMHC CE hours, 6 CASAC/CPP/CPS CE hours are pending.To receive the CE hours participants must: arrive on time; stay for the full session; submit a post-test; and document their attendance via the CE sign in and sign-out sheet. No credit will be provided for partial attendance, no exceptions please. Please have your Social Work License Number on hand.
